Living between Sturgeon Falls and Toronto, Ontario the Métis, non-binary multi-artist Clayton Windatt holds a BA in Fine Art from Nipissing University located in North Bay, Ontario. Born in St. Catharines, Clayton has lived most of their life in the Northeastern part of Ontario. In 2001, Clayton also received a Graphic Design certification from Canadore College in in North Bay. They have a long history working in Artist-Run Culture and Community Arts, and works toward healthier relationships for national Indigenous Artists and communities. They are an active filmmaker and director with works featured in festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival and ImagineNative. Clayton is a member of the Indigenous Curatorial Collective, and their former Executive Director. They have been appointed to the National Gallery of Canada’s Board of Trustees, and previously sat on the board of CARFAC Ontario. Clayton is now the Executive Director of the Artist- Run Centres and Collectives Conference (ARCA).

‍Clayton frequently works on contracts with arts magazines, arts councils, arts organizations, and several colleges and universities. Passionate about a living wage for artists, they recently joined other artists and arts professionals to call for the implementation of a Basic Income Guarantee in Canada. This would look at what a person makes each month and then top it up to what a basic livable income would be in their area of Canada
