Christine Kirouac

Christine Kirouac is a Winnipeg-based artist and writer, who crafts provocative work through a lens of humour, personal intimacy and experience that exposes struggles to translate identity. Her interdisciplinary projects are a negotiation for (dis)placement, (non)acceptance and belonging. Alluring, absurd, and always open-ended, she prefers the tease to the whole, leaving a trail of impressions to linger. She has participated in residencies at the Banff Centre, Vermont Studio Centre and has received multiple grants from various art councils as well as the National Film Board.

Christine has had numerous solo exhibits and has been featured in group shows and screenings nationally and internationally, including Winnipeg Art Gallery, Lisbon International Film Festival and Bedford Gallery San Francisco. From 2013-2015 she was co-owner, director and curator of three boutique American art fairs. Alongside her art practice, Christine has also taught at four different North Carolina Colleges
