Theresie Tungilik
Theresie Tungilik is an artist and art collector from Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. She has worked as an advisor for Arts & Traditional Economy, Department of Economic Development and Transportation, Government of Nunavut since 1999. She is the Chair of the Planning and Management Committee for Ukkusiksalik National Park, Nunavut. She has been on the National Board of Directors for CARFAC since 2017, becoming the Vice-President in 2019, and is a strong advocate for CARFAC’s Artist’s Resale Right campaign.
Theresie participates on the Arctic Indigenous Advisory Circle and is an Indigenous Language Keeper for Qaumajuq at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and joined the Board of Governors for the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Qaumajuq in 2021. She also joined the Reconciliation Council for the Canadian Museums Association in 2021. Theresie has been the Director of the Kivalliq Trade Show Arts Market Committee since 2010, and she served as a Municipal Councillor in Rankin Inlet from 2014 to 2020. She has previously served on numerous boards and committees, and also assisted with the repatriation of Inuit art from the African Museum in Belgium.
